Repeatable Engine Design

Framework

RED is our streamlined engine design process which establishes a base bill of materials and configuration template of gas turbine engines that is fully scalable to any size and power requirements.  From 125lbf thrust class all the way up to hypersonic thrust class, SSPA can deliver fully operational and integratable engine and component designs ready for takeoff.

Supply Chain

By developing a gas turbine engine template, SSPA can quickly modify parameters, dimensions, tolerances, and many other hardware requirements to meet customer's needs in real time.  RED will use these parameters to also incorporate and implement hardware based on current supply chain readiness and availability.  This means the bill of materials will have active manufacturers and active sources of supply eliminating challenges due to obsolescence.

Sustainment

For non-attritable designs, RED will also identify repair sources during the design phase capable of overhauling engine hardware based on raw material, part family, or area of expertise.  Repair data will also be written in parallel with the design or modifications to allow for a robust and precise set of repair instructions.

M-Mods

Module modifications are changes made to an existing engine platform or weapon system that can improve or enhance targeted engine parts, assemblies, or modules life cycle, efficiency, power, thrust, and many other performance parameters of gas turbine engines.  RED can also be used to propose a part, assembly, or module modification that brings desired customer outcomes.

Structural, Thermal, and Rotary Analysis and Design

Our partners at Dynamic 3D have expertise and experience using Siemens NX to evaluate component, module, and engine designs identifying any points or areas for redress thereby eliminating risks to engine performance and operational safety.
